Who We Are

Klein Hornig (KH) has a single purpose: to provide uncompromising service and unparalleled legal experience in support of affordable housing and community development. Our dedication to that goal – and to our clients who advance that goal – informs every choice we make as professionals.

Originally focusing on nonprofit community developers and public housing authorities, KH’s strategic growth has allowed us to build breadth and depth to expand our services. Today, KH represents a wide array of clients engaged in creating and preserving affordable housing, including some of the nation’s leading syndicators, for-profit and nonprofit developers, public housing authorities, and housing finance agencies. Along with affordable housing, the firm has also cultivated a community development practice utilizing historic and new markets tax credits.

The firm started in 2002 with a handful of lawyers split between offices in Boston and Washington, DC. Over the past two decades, KH has expanded its practice with lawyers and professionals working in-office or remotely around the country.

Why Clients Choose Us

Our clients navigate a world of insufficient resources, intricate financing arrangements, inconsistent program mandates, and shifting government objectives. They need lawyers who not only possess cutting-edge experience but also apply this knowledge practically and efficiently in ways that advance the client’s mission and goals.

When clients choose Klein Hornig, they don’t hire a lawyer, they hire a team. KH lawyers have deep experience in the field and extensive knowledge in nuanced areas. The firm also cultivates a culture of collaboration and support, relying on subject matter professionals and drawing on local and national experience. Our steady growth and expansion of services reflect our learned experience about the range and depth of talents needed to advise our clients in real-time. We are committed to building the next generation of leaders in our field.
