Kiara Griggs Price focuses her practice on a range of affordable housing and community development matters with particular emphasis on HUD programs.

Prior to joining Klein Hornig, Kiara worked with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of General Counsel (OGC) as Deputy Regional Counsel in the Atlanta, GA Regional Office. Kiara’s work included the supervision of the Region’s in-house counsel, which covered both the Litigation and Program Advisement sides of the office. Her work commonly involved issues of FHA mortgage insurance transactions that often presented considerations of LIHTC, bond and subordinate financing, complex ownership structures and leasehold interests, and accounts receivable financing. Kiara also provided and supervised counsel to HUD’s Multifamily asset management and subsidized housing programs, and to HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH), Single Family Homeownership Center, and to HUD’s Community Planning and Development (CPD), and Fair Housing divisions.

Kiara first joined HUD in 2008 as a Legal Honors Participant & Attorney Advisor, during which time Kiara reviewed draft FHA-insured multifamily and healthcare closing documents, provided counsel to HUD’s Multifamily Property Disposition Center, counseled one of only four single family Homeownership Centers in the country, advised HUD’s CPD and PIH clients, and counseled Civil Rights/Fair Housing case investigations. Kiara also worked in HUD Headquarters for several years, specializing in a broad variety of multifamily FHA insurance, closing, claims, and loan disposition issues, and working with the OCG Operations division.
